Why This Reference Exists
Illinois public-record rules make much arrest information available, but the right custodian depends on what a person needs. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office creates local custody and booking records and operates the Jefferson County Justice Center. Its official inmate-search page directs the public to the app for current county custody. For an older booking entry, booking sheet, or photograph when available, the JCSO FOIA information page points to the sheriff’s public records portal.
The Illinois Department of Corrections search serves people in sentenced state custody, not the county booking system. The Jefferson County court directory and Circuit Clerk hold later case events and dispositions. These distinctions keep a current custody question, an older booking record, and a court outcome from being treated as the same record. This service points to those official sources and hosts no booking-photo gallery of its own.
What This Site Includes
The pages are organized around the public systems that serve Jefferson County and the three city surfaces selected for local coverage:
- The county home page’s combined custody, recent-booking, jail-roster, booking-record, and official correction paths, with the Sheriff’s Most Wanted page carrying warrant-check context.
- Separate coverage of local crime reporting, official sources, and clearly labeled secondary material, with no booking-photo gallery or reposted collection.
- City pages for Mount Vernon, Ina, and Bluford that identify the local police or municipal route and explain when a city arrest moves into county custody.
- Step-by-step context for the county app and booking-feed limits, state DOC offender photos, FOIA requests, and the court path, including what response details are actually published.
Limits of a Private Reference
Jefferson County Busted Mugshots is privately operated. It is not connected with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Justice Center, the Illinois Department of Corrections, a court, or any other government agency. The service does not own the official records and cannot make an agency change them.
- It cannot release, hold, or transfer anyone in custody.
- It cannot confirm current custody, post bond, schedule a visit, or send money for another person.
- It cannot pull official records on request or give legal advice.
- It cannot promise that a phone number, fee, address, roster entry, or link remains current.
Only the originating sheriff, corrections agency, court, or other government office can confirm a person’s current status, charges, release, or case result. Official records control when a linked page and an older copy do not match.
Search Partner Disclosure
Some search boxes connect with outside providers that set their own prices, terms, and results. If a visitor follows a tool to a paid signup, Jefferson County Busted Mugshots may receive a referral fee. That fee helps support the service and does not give this service control over a partner’s pricing, records, or decisions. The partner’s own notices govern the information submitted after a visitor leaves these pages.
